It has been identified that a significant number of Site Managers and Engineers do not have any formal training or awareness in the management of safety with excavation work.

To provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge to plan and manage the safety of excavation works.
The objectives of this course are too;
- Improve how excavation safety is managed
- Explain the process for safe management of excavations as detailed in the EWG-HS-WP-43 Excavation safety
- Demonstrate how excavations fail through the use of graphics and video
- Demonstrate with the aid of animation and video the process for safe installation of excavation shoring
- Be able to state the hazards associated with excavation works
At the end of the session delegates will be able to:
- Understand the key points regarding Excavation Safety
- Identify the various components used to shore excavations
- Outline some of the reasons why excavations collapse
- Understand procedures relating to Excavation Safety
- Be able to inspect an excavation, identify relevant hazards and complete the weekly inspection register
The course is aimed at operational line manager’s inc. Contracts Managers, Site Managers and Engineers who are managing excavation work.
